Tasco Target Varmint 6-24X42 Light/Medium 1/4 15 yds Fair
First Review:

I had been searching long and hard for an affordable scope. I checked out the Barska line, Leepers, and other cheaper priced scopes. But none seemed to have the things I wanted in a airgun scope: Target turrets, A/O, 24X power, focus down to 10yards, etc... After weeks of looking, I decided to check out a Tasco Target Varmint 6-24X42 Scope on eBay for $65.00.

I got it in earlier today. I mounted it on my tuned RWS320M. The 320 shoots with a good "thunk". It was tuned by Ron Juneau of the Bayou Airgun Club. It has no twang at all. Considering that it has no twang, I decided to take a chance. The scope I got was a new one under the Bushnell warranty, so if it has a problem, I should be able to get it fixed with out any trouble.

I mounted the scope on BKL double strap mounts. I took the gun outside to sight in at 10 yards. I took one shot and it was real close already. Just 4 clicks up and I was right on the money. I didn't even check, but the power was set at 8X. I took it to 24X and it was a bit blurry, so I checked my distance and I was at 13 yards. So obviously this one will not focus to 10 or even 13 yards. It would at 15yards. Also, the power numbers looked like parts of them were rubbed off. They are printed in silver, so it's hard to read some of them. Other than that, the scope looked good.

It was starting to get dark with just a bit of daylight left. In the full daylight, optics were nice and clear at 24X with just a slight bit of "white haziness" around the edges. Not bad at all, just a bit. As the light fell, the optics got a bit hazy, so it might not be the best scope in low light conditions or shooting into a dark area.

I put tons of shots through it (JSB Lites). The scope never went fuzzy or showed signs of anything loose or the lenses moving (like I have seen on cheaper scopes). So far so good.

Second Review:

Tasco Varmint 6-24x42 mil-dot (actual Tasco not Bushnell) – Remember that this scope is from old stock and not current Bushnell production. The new scopes may be better, but I am not sure. This scope will get the job done, but the lenses are too dark and not that clear. It actually looks like it has tint on the lenses. The mil-dot size is good though. It is not very eye sensitive.
