Powerline 1000x Combo Review

I saw this rifle combo at Walmart for $98.00 on sale and was going to buy it for myself, but decided that my son Chris needed a decent break barrel rifle, so I brought it home and gave it to him. He was very happy.

We opened the box to find a very nice looking rifle. The synthetic stock is made very nice with a wide area under the stock for forward hand placement. It felt very good. It has a Monte Carlo cheek rest for right handed shooters. The trigger and trigger guard on this model was made of metal, whereas the Winchester version has a plastic trigger on it.

The bluing was very nice on it and had bold gold lettering with the Daisy Powerline 1000X name on it. It has some nice tru-glow front and rear sights and is very accurate even without a scope. The break barrel breaks clean, but cocks hard. It has one tough spring in it. The first and second shots we took broke the sound barrier and was very loud. This thing kicks like a mule. After shooting it for a while, your shoulder is actually aching. It has a recoil that seems to kick straight back like a regular rifle.

Since it's the combo, it came with a Daisy Powerline 3-9X32 scope. Now these aren't that bad of scopes, but the scope mounts they put on them are. So while I was at Walmart, I picked up a set of Simmons scope mounts for $7.00. I thought that they might work with the scope stop on the rifle. They didn't! The scope mounts crept back, broke off the scope stop and bent the Simmons mounts apart. Now that's hard recoil. I purchased a BAM scope mount for it and put the Powerline scope back on. Well, the BAM mount held very good and never budged, but the recoil was too much for even the Powerline scope and the crosshairs came loose and rotated counter-clockwise 45 degrees. That's the first Powerline I have ever seen break. I have one on my B21 and it's still working great. He will have to invest in a better scope that can take the worst punishment from a magnum springer.

Accuracy is very good on this rifle though. As I stated earlier, even with open sights you can hit dead-on. I took Chris Jack Rabbit hunting with it and with open sights, he was nailing Jackrabbits at 25 yards with ease. He took home 5 nice size Jack Rabbits that night.

Overall, it's a sweet rifle, but could really do with a tune-down to get it shooting smoother and get rid of some of the heavy recoil.
