Beeman GS950 Combo Review

| I bought my GS950 Combo from Ken Hidout. They were brand
new in the box with all the papers. I sent him a MO and the day after he
received it, the Big Brown Truck was making a delivery to my door. FAST. This is the first Beeman I have ever owned and probably the nicest of all the air guns I have to date. Finish on the GS950 is incredible. There were NO flaws in the wood or finish like some of the Chinese rifles I have purchased. It's a beautiful color. Slightly reddish wood and a beautiful checkering on the grip. It looks very nice and slim lined. It has a Monte Carlo stock and is made for right handed shooters. It's the smoothest piece of wood I have seen to date other than the finish on my Crosman 1077w. The breech was nice and tight and when cocked, no play in it at all, and it didn't catch until the last bit of pull where it engages the automatic safety. It is a little hard to cock right now, but should bet better. It came with front and rear sights and not the muzzle break that is on the GH series rifles. The butt pad is nice and soft and a perfect fit with no protrusion. The bluing is very nice and has a deep look to it. Not a scratch on it. It was not covered in any kind of oil or grease, yet there was no rust on the rifle at all. The breach seal looks to be a rubber O ring type like on the Gamo's. It's also made in Spain like the Gamo rifles. The trigger and trigger guard are both plastic. It's the only thing I don't care for on the rifle. The trigger has ridges cut it in and feels very good. Trigger pull is light at around 2lbs. It breaks crisp and did not affect the accuracy of the shots at all. I'm not sure yet if it's adjustable, but it has a screw hole in the trigger guard so I'm hoping it is. The rifle has a gold Beeman emblem on the left side. When I first saw this I though that it would be removable. It probably can be removed, but it is recessed into the wood stock and probably would be an eye sore without it. As mentioned above, I have the combo with a scope and mounts. The papers that came with the rifle say it was sighted in at 10meters already. Well, it was very close. I had to make one windage adjustment of about 4 clicks. The Beeman 3-9X32 scope looks very crisp and clear, although not as much magnification as I'd like. It's an A/O scope with target turrets and functions very nice. The mounts are also very nice. They are a two piece double clamp type with allen head screws. It bites very nice and with the scope stop installed, I doubt I have to worry about scope creep on it. It was easy to hold on target and the trigger was light enough to keep on target while I pulled two pounds out of it. I'm wanting to set this up for my sporting field target rifle, and I think it's going to work out just fine! |
