BSA Hornet Review

BSA Hornet .22 Cal
This rifle brought me into the world of
pre-charge rifles, This rifle is silent and deadly but can be a bit
heavy at times when trudging around a muddy shoot. The rifle is nice and
short on its own. but with its loud muzzle crack you really have to fit
a silencer.
The parker hale silencer is fitted to mine
at the moment but may soon be changed over to a BSA SAS silencer which
is supposed to be inaudible (yet to be tested).
The woodwork is top class as is the
metalwork on this gun. After coming from spring rifles to pre-charge
rifles I made the mistake of taking it back to be chronographed by my
local gun shop as there is no recoil I thought there's no way this is
shooting to full power... Wasted journey the Hornet is fitted with a
regulator that is normally fitted to £500 plus guns, and its power was
recorded over 10 shots and didn't change from the first shot to the
last.
The cocking button is at the front of the
fore end of the stock, and it can be cocked while the gun is mounted in
the firing position. One neat trick of mine is to cock the gun while
having found a target quite loudly, the rabbit looks up and you have the
perfect head shot. This rifle will be in my cabinet for quite a long
time I guarantee it.
