We had our first workday before the Desert Heat match  today. Thanks to Ricky, Mary, & Hope for coming out to help. We got a lot done today, with just a little more to do. Guess we'll setup 1 more workday before the match to get the finishing touches done. Holler if you can help.

Cajun Classic in Baton Rouge is coming up soon. Make sure you get your registration in if your going. We will head down on Thursday morning before the match so we can arrive on Friday and have a full day of preparation to get ready. Holler at me if you have any questions.

The gazebo we have now needs repair really bad. The roof it almost gone. We also need to extend it another 10 feet. I have all the measurements for that and should be picking up the lumber sometime this week. Holler at me if you can help. Thanks.

So far we have 5 brand new Rhino targets and they are all mounted on 2X6's and on patio blocks. They look and work great. We still need to get more raffle tickets sold to come up with the funds for the other 5.

Our registration form is up for our upcoming AAFTA Desert Heat match in July. I chose July because there weren't any other BIG events going on in the airgun world that month. Download the registration, fill it out and send in your registration money, because it's gonna be a blast.

The Christmas part was a blast. We had about 7 members show up. We played some pool and shot softair pistols for prizes. Had a good BBQ dinner, exchanged some presents, and there were many more smiles than last year. Thanks to all who showed up to make it a very good time of fellowship.

Because of the change in Daylight Savings Time, we are going to have both our monthly meetings on Saturdays starting at 3:00p.m. We will setup and practice starting at 3:00, and will start shooting field target by 4:30p.m. That way we can get in plenty of shooting before it turns dark.

Well, we are not going to get the new range sponsored by the City of Kermit. The city wanted us to carry one million dollars of insurance on the property and we just can't do that right now. Who knows. Maybe as more members can pay dues and we get some new members in, that will change and we can get back to the table and talk to the city about it again.

Sorry I haven't updated in a while. I have been doing bad physically. I'm just now getting back on my feet again. Things in the club have gone done hill a bit while I couldn't run things. I'm sure it will start picking up again soon as I have had a full week of feeling pretty good lately. The weather is cooler too, so it's a great time to hit the range and do some shooting. I hope to see all of you members at the upcoming meetings.

Well, the Desert Heat match was a total success. Thanks to all the members who worked so hard to make it a great event. Guess it's time we can slow down a bit and do some work on our air rifles and get them into peak performance for the Autumn Airgun Fest and/or the Louisiana State Match.

I talked to the City Counsel about getting the property on Standard Ave for our airgun club. They will get back to me on it. Please keep this in your prayers. If we get to shoot on this property, we will be shooting in the woods with little to no wind.

The last bench is up at the range. We have several last minute projects going on for our first AAFTA match. Please get the word out on the match so we can get a decent attendance. Ricky Knight has made some gun racks that we will be putting up. Thanks Rick! We plan on getting more built asap. Also had a great meeting the other day shooting mini and regular field target. thanks for the great time guys!

Ron Juneau made us up some great tree targets for our club. A squirrel and bird. I should be putting them up this week sometime. They are awesome. I can't wait to shoot them. I also purchased a bunch of spinners and target holders from Ron at the Cajuns and he also donated a stack of target holders to us! Thanks Ron. You are a great blessing to this club and it's members.

The Cajun Classic match was a blast. For those that couldn't make it this year, you really missed out. David Bare and I shot very well and had a blast this year. The targets were hard, challenging, and very fun! A key to a great match. Thanks to Ron & Linda, and all the other BAC members who made it a wonderful 2 day event.

We are ready to hold our first AAFTA Field Target event. The registration form is finished and I have been working on some of the things we need to do to prepare for this event. I hope it turns out great! The event is called the "Desert Heat" match. It will be held on the 27th of May, 2006. Registration is $25.00 a person. I'm hoping to have the lunch catered in and some sweet looking plaques for the awards. Email me if you have any questions.

I have the last tree put together for the range. Once it's in, that's it on those. It gives us a total of 7. Pandy Bare will be sending us down some nice live trees to get planted at the range. Let's hope the rabbits don't have a feast on them and they grow. Should make the field target area look pretty awesome. I'm still wanting more artificial Christmas trees for the range. So keep your eyes out for some. Thanks. Also, the last of the benches have been finished at the range.
3-6-06
Went out to the range today and put up two more benches on the field target area. We now have sitting benches for lanes 1-10. I also added a lane (11) for a couple "up in the tree" targets that Ron Juneau made us. I mowed out the area into some mesquite bushes. Should be a really fun lane to shoot. I also finished the yardage markers in the practice area with markers for 55 yards now. We have 6 "trees" added to the field target area and I'm working on number 7 now. First I have to piece them together and then drill and bolt the sections so they don't come apart. The I liquid nail all the branches on and put it in two bags of concrete so it doesn't go anywhere.
3-3-06
Jesse Hobson has decided not to do the maintenance on the range anymore. So we are looking for someone to take his place. If you know of a teenager or adult that wants to make a few easy bucks, let me know. Thanks.
3-3-06
We put up two more artificial trees at the range. One large tree where lanes 9 and 10 intersect, and 1 on lane 9. Looks good. We have a couple more to go out until we can dig up some more.
2-13-06
Fixed all the mini Field Targets. We shot them at the meeting Saturday using a low powered springer at 500fps using very light Meister pellets, and they all went down like clockwork. Still need to get a couple of the dues in and get Jesse out to the range to do some cleanup in the Field Target area. We need to get two more lanes in asap. I'll be working on lane markers and the gravel box. The last lane will be a standing lane.
1-27-06
Took Jesse out to the range tonight and got a lot done out there.
1. Did some cleanup/picking up in the range area.
2. Nails were pulling out of the shooting benches, so they were all pulled and re-nailed with better nails.
3. The shed is completely cleaned up and organized.
4. Spinners are all re-painted.
5. Added larger hooks to several more target strings.
6. Measured all the field target lanes to see how far each lane went so I can punch it into the Field Target Builder program for setting up matches.
7. Burned some trash
1-25-06
Well, we got a lot of things done the last couple weeks. Let me re-cap.
1. The bathroom (Ricky's Texas Moon Lounge) is finally complete. Door and all! We finished up the front siding yesterday. It's probably the best out-house in Texas :)
2. We have 7 benches completed just behind each of the field target lanes for competitors to sit on while one is shooting. We only have 4 to go and I have the wood (2X12's) here at the house for the rest of it.
3. We put a total of 4 artificial trees at the range so far. 3 - 6footers and 1- 4 footer. They look slightly out of place this time of the year being so green, but when spring comes and the tall grass turns green and the mesquites bloom, they'll fit right in and should look awesome. We have 2 - 7 footers to put out there still, so I'll pick up 3 bags of concrete and get them out there next week. It's really looking good.
4. I made a wind flag out at the range. It works great. I used some bright red vinyl and PVC. It will let us know how hard the wind is blowing and in what direction so we can compensate when shooting.
5. Pandy Bare, David Bare's wife, has the "live" trees in and is putting them in pots. So we should be able to plant them in the early spring. This will give us a good combination of wild plant life, artificial, and new foliage to give us some wind break and make the field target range look great.
6. Ron Juneau is working on two targets for us that we can mount on the side of some 4X4 posts to give us some "tree" shots in the field target competitions. We will use 2 - 4X4's with artificial branches around them from artificial Christmas trees. I think he is doing a bird and a squirrel if I remember. Those should be some awesome targets to shoot at.
7. We will be putting in a Standing Lane next at the airgun range. On that lane, everyone will have to shoot standing off-hand. Should make for some interesting scores. There will be no need for a shooting box in that lane, so setting it up should be a breaze. Just mow it and put in a couple lane markers.
8. Ricky is moving to Andrews, so we offered the job of secretary to Hope, Robert Holloway's girlfriend. She accepted and is excited to have the job. So thank you Hope for helping out the club! Ricky Knight will still be involved in the club. He will be driving in for the meetings each month. He just got married to Mary, So Congrats Ricky & Mary!
9. We have all the dues in for January except for a couple. So good job getting those dues in guys & gals. Appreciate your support.
10. The Cajun Classic in Baton Rouge is coming up in April. So those of us that are going will need to come by and get a registration form and get it sent in. Registration is $60.00 this year. Well worth it. We will be leaving 2 days early (May 30th) to make sure we get there a full day in advance for sight in and setup and to make sure we are 100% ready this year. Holler at me if you want to go so we can make arrangements.

We have our next meeting this coming Sunday at 2:30p.m. at the range. I hope that you all make it for the field target and min-field target competition. I miss seeing some of you at the meetings. I know you work hard and long hours, but if you can just make it out for a 1/2 hour so we can hang out and shoot a bit that would be great.
I'm really missing Kevin & Steve Hoff, Sammy Carlton, Jason Bristow, Charles Litchford, and Chris McMillan. I hope that you guys can make it out pretty soon so we can hang out a bit and catch up on things. I enjoy shooting with ya!

Hope to see you all Sunday and we'll have a great time...
